Even with just one night here, it left a lasting impression. It’s one of those places that surprises you with its charm.

Old Town (Centre Historique and where I stayed)
This is where I stayed and where I recommend for first-time visitors. Dijon’s Old Town is full of charm. Think cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, lively squares, and historic landmarks on every corner. You can walk to most attractions, including the Palace of the Dukes, Les Halles Market, the Owl Trail, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts.
It’s the perfect base if you want to soak up the atmosphere without needing a car or public transport. I easily found plenty of cafés, wine bars, and local boutiques within steps of my hotel. It felt safe, friendly, and like the kind of place you could happily get lost in.

Near the Train Station (Gare)
If you’re arriving by train or planning day trips to nearby towns, staying near Dijon’s station is convenient. It’s just a 10 minute walk to the Old Town, and hotels here are often more affordable. This area is quieter at night, but you’re still close to everything.
It’s a smart base for anyone using Dijon as a hub to explore Burgundy by train, and you won’t have to drag your luggage far.
