Why We Chose Hotel Accademia
When choosing where to stay in Verona, location and parking were our top priorities. Hotel Accademia offered both, right in the middle of the old town, just a few minutes walk from top sights like the Verona Arena, Juliet’s House, and Piazza delle Erbe.
The idea of being able to park the car and not touch it again until we left was a huge win for us.
From the moment we arrived, the hotel made everything feel easy. The staff were warm and welcoming, and check in only took a couple of minutes. There’s an elevator that takes you to the first floor, but if your room is on the second, be prepared for a short flight of stairs. Something to keep in mind if you have heavy bags.
Inside the Room
The room itself was classic and comfortable. We had a large double bed in the centre with crisp white sheets and plush pillows. On one side, there was a small sitting area, while on the other, a desk with a tea and coffee station added a nice homey touch. We really appreciated having a safe to lock away valuables and a mini bar fridge tucked underneath the TV.
Little things like welcome chocolates, a bedside phone, and windows that opened out to the old Verona streets added character to the room. The decor wasn’t ultra-modern, but it had that timeless Italian feel, cozy, functional, and well looked after.
The Bathroom
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, with sleek fixtures and good lighting. Like many Italian bathrooms, it included a bidet along with the toilet.
The shower had great water pressure, and we loved that extra toiletries were provided a thoughtful touch when you’re living out of a suitcase.
Fresh towels were replenished daily, and everything was spotlessly clean, which is something we always pay attention to when staying in city hotels.
Breakfast at Hotel Accademia
Although breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate, we decided to try it out and we were glad we did. For €20 per person, the breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of choices. From buttery croissants in different flavours to a spread of cheeses, cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, and fresh juices, there was something for every kind of traveller whether you like a light breakfast or a full continental spread.
The setting was also lovely elegant without being stuffy, and with plenty of seating so you never felt cramped.
