How many days do you need in Rome
You need a minimum of 3 to 4 full days to see the main sights in Rome. However, this was my 3rd trip to Rome, and we still found new things to see. As they say, Rome is like a lasagna and has many layers.
What to Pack for Rome?
Layers are key to Rome for all seasons. In saying that Rome has hot sunny days in summer and cold nights in winter. For summer, be sure to pack lightweight and breathable clothing suitable for the Mediterranean climate, including comfortable walking shoes for exploring the city’s cobblestone streets. For the winter months, you’ll definitely need a warm coat and a beanie!

Clothing Essentials
- Lightweight tops, bottoms, and dresses that transition from day to night.
- Comfortable walking shoes (trust me, there will be a lot of walking on cobblestone streets).
- Swimsuit and cover-up.
- Bag with a zip, pickpockers are real in Europe!
- A lightweight jumper for the chilly nights.

What to do in Rome
My days in Rome were filled with endless exploration and discovery. Taking in the grandeur of the Roman Forum, enchanted by the beauty of the Sistine Chapel, and awestruck by the Pantheon’s architectural marvels, I felt immersed in history. Yet amidst the ancient wonders, there was always room to indulge in pasta dishes in trattorias or tossing coins into the Trevi Fountain. There really is so much!

Where to Stay in Rome
Choosing accommodation in Rome was a delightful dilemma, with each neighborhood offering distinct charm. I opted for the historic center, where iconic landmarks like the Spanish Steps and the Colosseum were just steps away. However, there are plenty of great areas depending on what kind of Rome experience you’re after.

You don’t have to venture far past Rome to experience more Italian charm. On a day trip by organised tour or train, you can visit Hadrian’s Villa, Villa d’Este, the beautiful city of Orvieto, or walk through the paths of Pompeii’s tragedy and climb Mount Vesuvius.

Where to eat in Rome
When it comes to eating in Rome, you’re spoiled for choice with an abundance of trattorias, osterias, and pizzerias offering authentic Italian dishes. I was not disappointed at all with any meal I had. Don’t forget to treat yourself to a scoop or two of creamy gelato from one of the city’s renowned gelaterias.
