Best Day Trip from Rome!

Day trip from Italy

You could easily spend days and weeks exploring the beautiful city of Rome, one of my all-time favorite places to visit. But while you’re there, you could add a day trip from Rome to one of their other easily interesting cities or towns. Rome is in such a great location where you can visit more historic ruins, climb a volcano, drink Chianti in Tuscany, or visit the sea on the Amalfi Coast. So no matter how long you have in Rome, here are my top five day trips you should add and would highly recommend.

Rome to Florence and Pisa Day Trip

No visit to Italy is complete without experiencing the charm of Tuscany. Florence and Pisa are the perfect introduction to the region. If your schedule allows, a day trip from Rome would be the best and hassle-free way to visit the region. You’ll be able to skip the crowded trains and be taken to these iconic cities. In Florence, you can see the magnificent Duomo and, of course, don’t miss the chance to snap a classic photo with the Leaning Tower of Pisa before heading back to Rome.

Rome to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius Day Trip

For history buffs and adventure seekers alike, a day trip to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius is an absolute must! I loved being able to step back in time as you explore the preserved ruins of Pompeii, which were frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. I did a hike up to Mount Vesuvius Volcano and would also highly recommend doing the same!

Tuscany Day Trip from Rome

If visiting hilltop towns and breathtaking scenery and vineyards are your thing, you can’t pass up a day trip to the picturesque Tuscany region. If you take a guided tour, you can visit historic and charming medieval towns and sample some of the best wine from the region straight from the vineyard. A lot of these tours also include lunch at a traditional Tuscan farmhouse, which was a highlight for me. Trust me, the views alone are worth the trip!

Tivoli Day Trip from Rome

Just a short drive from Rome lies the picturesque town of Tivoli, which is home to two stunning villas. A day trip is enough to explore the ancient ruins of Hadrian’s Villa, which was once the lavish retreat of Emperor Hadrian himself, and see the magnificent gardens, ornate fountains, and lush greenery of Villa d’Este. The perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
