When I was planning my last trip to France, I knew I had to visit the Palace of Versailles. Visiting Versailles was a bucket list item of mine, and I finally got to experience it last spring.

To fully appreciate the Palace of Versailles, plan to spend at least half a day there. If you want to explore the gardens, the Trianon estate, and the Queen’s Hamlet, you might need a full day. The palace and its grounds are huge!

How to get to the Palace of Versailles
You can get to Versailles by car, train, or tour. We drove and parked there, hiring my car from Paris. There was plenty of parking right in front of the palace. The train from Paris is also convenient, with frequent services from Gare Montparnasse and Gare Saint-Lazare to Versailles Rive Gauche.
Alternatively, many guided tours offer transportation from Paris, which is the most stress-free way to do it.
