The Ultimate List of Things to Do in Canggu I Swear by!

Canggu is one of those places that exploded in popularity for a reason. The first time I visited, I couldn’t believe it had taken me so long to get there. This coastal area offers a mix of surf culture, wellness retreats, trendy cafés, and beach clubs with sunsets you’ll never forget.

It’s a refreshing contrast to Ubud’s jungle atmosphere or Uluwatu’s cliffs. On top of that, I had some of the best meals and coffee in Bali right here in Canggu. Every visit makes me want to stay longer.

Here’s everything I recommend doing while you’re in Canggu.

Surf or Learn to Surf

Canggu is a surf hotspot with breaks perfect for all levels. Batu Bolong and Berawa Beach have plenty of surf schools where you can take lessons, while Echo Beach offers more challenging waves for experienced surfers. The vibe is fun, so don’t worry if you fall off the board a few times, it’s all part of the experience.

Canggu Travel Guide

Relax at Beach Clubs

Beach clubs in Canggu are a must for unwinding. La Brisa has boho jungle décor and ocean swings, Finns Beach Club is perfect if you love pools, DJs, and lively energy, while The Lawn offers chilled-out luxury with great cocktails. Spending the afternoon at one of these spots is the perfect way to soak up Bali’s sunset magic.

Stroll Batu Bolong Street

Batu Bolong Street is the heart of Canggu. You’ll find boutiques, surf shops, street art, smoothie cafés, and lively bars. Spend half a day café-hopping, shopping, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere before heading to the beach for sunset drinks.

Foodie Experience & Café Hopping

Canggu is Bali’s café capital, and you’ll be spoiled for choice. Skool Kitchen serves open-fire dishes with ocean views, Bu Mi is my pick for authentic warung eats, Woods has a jungle vibe with incredible pastries, and Santanera is perfect for a stylish dinner. For something hands-on, I recommend joining a local cooking class to learn how to make Balinese dishes.

Visit Tanah Lot at Sunset

Just 20 minutes from Canggu, Tanah Lot is a sea temple surrounded by crashing waves. Sunset here is breathtaking, and although it’s a popular spot, it’s completely worth visiting.

Yoga, Spas & Wellness

Wellness is part of daily life in Canggu. Try yoga at The Practice, book a massage at Spring Spa, or join a sound healing session. These experiences are the perfect way to balance out your adventures.

Street Art & Rice Field Walks

Take time to wander the quieter backstreets of Pererenan or Echo Beach. You’ll find colourful murals, local cafés, and rice fields that stretch out to the horizon. These slow walks are one of my favourite ways to connect with Bali’s laid-back vibe.

Walking works for central areas, but scooters are the quickest way to get around. For day trips, a private driver is the most convenient option.
