The Perfect 10 Day Bali Itinerary for First Time Visitors

I’m not going to lie, Bali is controversial…. you either love it or you don’t! I personally have lost count of the number of times I’ve visited.

Lush rice fields, cliffside sunsets, cozy cafés, spiritual temples, and some of the kindest people I’ve met while travelling keep me coming back.

Since that first trip, I’ve returned to Bali multiple times. After exploring everything from chaotic beach towns to peaceful jungle retreats, I’ve finally created the perfect 10-day Bali itinerary for first-timers, especially if you want a good mix of culture, food, and beaches without spending your whole trip driving.

This itinerary focuses on four areas I love most: Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud, and Uluwatu.

They’re perfect for a first-time trip to Bali. The route flows smoothly, giving you time to explore and unwind. So here’s how I’d spend 10 days in Bali

Why 10 Days Is Ideal for Bali

Ten days gives you enough time to soak in Bali’s beauty without rushing. Whether it’s your first time or your fifth, having time to grab coffee at a favourite warung or watch the sunset from the same beach two nights in a row makes a huge difference.

This plan keeps your travel minimal and gives you a taste of the jungle, beaches, temples, and local life.

Days 1–3: Ubud for Temples, Rice Terraces & Jungle Vibes

Ubud is Bali’s cultural and spiritual heart and a must for any first-timer. Surrounded by lush jungle and terraced rice fields, Ubud is where you’ll find temples, yoga retreats, waterfalls, and markets filled with handcrafted goods. It’s one of my favourite places on the island.

Here’s how to spend your first few days
  • Visit the Tegallalang Rice Terraces at sunrise

  • Walk the peaceful Campuhan Ridge

  • Watch macaques at the Sacred Monkey Forest

  • Visit Tirta Empul for a water purification ritual

  • Try a sunrise hike up Mount Batur if you’re up for an adventure

Days 4–5: Canggu for Laid-Back Surf Town With Great Food

Next, head to Canggu, Bali’s trendiest coastal town. It’s laid-back, surfy, and full of digital nomads and cool cafés. This is where you can slow down, watch the waves roll in, and enjoy Bali’s best brunches. Honestly, it’s a foodie’s heaven.

Some of my favourite things to do in Canggu
  • Watch the sunset at Echo Beach

  • Grab a smoothie bowl at Crate Café

  • Take a surf lesson or just people-watch at Batu Bolong

  • Visit Tanah Lot Temple around sunset for a magical view

Chill surf town vibes, trendy cafes, coworking spaces, and a favourite among digital nomads.

Things to Do in Seminyak

Days 6–7: Seminyak for Stylish Shopping & Sunset Beach Clubs

Seminyak is where Bali gets a little more upscale. Think beach clubs, boutique shops, chic spas, and vibrant nightlife. Even if you’re not a big partier, there’s a lot to love especially if you enjoy good food and ocean views.

Things to do in Seminyak
  • Spend an afternoon at Potato Head or Ku De Ta beach clubs

  • Shop along Jalan Kayu Aya (aka “Eat Street”)

  • Watch the sunset at Double Six Beach with a cocktail in hand

  • Get a traditional massage or try a Balinese spa ritual

Great for first-time visitors who want beaches, cafes, shopping, and nightlife all in one spot.

Days 8–10: Uluwatu for Clifftop Temples & Stunning Beaches

Wrap up your Bali trip with a few days in Uluwatu, where dramatic cliffs meet secluded beaches and the famous Uluwatu Temple. It’s quieter here, making it perfect for winding down. You’ll also find Savaya, one of the most luxe cliff clubs in Bali that often hosts international acts.

Things to do in Uluwatu

  • Visit Uluwatu Temple and stay for the Kecak fire dance – it’s magical at sunset.
  • Swim or surf at Padang Padang or Bingin Beach – two of my favourites for views and vibe.
  • Spend a day at Savaya or Sundays Beach Club – both are perfect for cocktails and ocean dips.
  • Watch the sunset from a cliff bar like Single Fin – the views are incredible.

Getting Around Bali

The easiest way to follow this 10-day plan is to hire a private driver for the longer transfers, like Ubud to Canggu, and then walk or use scooters for short trips. If you’re not confident riding a scooter, taxis and Grab or Gojek (Bali’s version of Uber) work well in most areas.

When to Visit Bali

The dry season (May to September) is the best time to visit. You’ll get sunny days, lower humidity, and perfect weather for both beaches and temples.

Try to avoid Nyepi Day (usually in March), Bali’s silent day where everything including the airport shuts down.
