Should you spend one day in Dozza?
When planning my Italian adventure, Dozza wasn’t initially on my radar. It was actually a last-minute trip decision as we needed somewhere to stop on our Italian road trip. However, after spending a few hours there, I can confidently say it was one of the highlights of my trip.

With that said, especially Dozza being a medieval village, we were surprised by the art that was everywhere. So this goes without saying, if you’re an art enthusiast, history buff, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Dozza is definitely worth a visit, even for a short visit or just to grab lunch.

How to Get to Dozza
We hired a car for our trip to Dozza, which I highly recommend. Driving through the Italian countryside is an experience in itself. Dozza is about a 40-minute drive from Bologna and an hour from Florence, making it an easy day trip. It’s a little tricky to do without a car. We hired our car here.
How Long Do You Need in Dozza?
We spent four hours in Dozza and stayed for lunch. This was enough time for us to explore the main sights, enjoy the local cuisine, and soak in the village’s charm without rushing. Depending on your pace, one day in Dozza is perfect for experiencing what the village has to offer. If you want to take it slow, you could easily spend the whole day.
Where to Park
Parking in Dozza is relatively straightforward. There are several parking lots near the village entrance. From there, it’s a short walk into the heart of Dozza. We found free parking easily and enjoyed a leisurely stroll into the village.
Are There Restaurants in Dozza?
Yes, Dozza has several restaurants where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine. Whether you’re looking for a casual trattoria or a fine dining experience, they have quite a few options. Be sure to try some regional specialties and, of course, the local wine
Can You Stay in Dozza?
While Dozza is perfect for a day trip, you can also stay overnight. There are a few charming bed and breakfasts and guesthouses that offer a cozy place to rest after a day of exploration. Staying overnight could give you a chance to explore more at a relaxed pace.
Towns Near Dozza
If you have more time to explore, consider visiting nearby towns like Imola and Bologna. Imola, known for its racing circuit, is just a short drive away. Bologna, with its rich history and vibrant food scene, is also nearby and definitely worth a visit or even a good town to base yourself out of. We found that combining one day in Dozza with other nearby destinations such as Florence made for a fantastic itinerary.
