How to Visit Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech! Everything you Need to Know

When I was planning my trip to Marrakech, Jardin Majorelle was right at the top of my must-visit list. I’d seen countless photos of its vibrant blue buildings surrounded by lush, beautiful plants, and I couldn’t wait to see it for myself. If you haven’t heard of it, this beautiful garden was designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent, so you know it’s going to be stunning!

Even in winter, Jardin Majorelle was busy, but it was completely worth it to wander through the tropical gardens and see the iconic design up close. Let me share my experience and tips to make your visit as magical and seamless as mine!

About Jardin Majorelle

First, a little backstory. Jacques Majorelle, a French artist, created this garden in the 1920s as his personal sanctuary. Inspired by Moroccan landscapes and architecture, he painted the buildings in what we now call “Majorelle Blue.”

In the 1980s, Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé saved the garden from neglect and restored it to its full glory.

Today, it’s not only a garden but also a beautiful tribute to art and design and 100% worth visiting!

How to Get to Jardin Majorelle

If you’re staying in the Medina, a taxi to the garden is super easy. It’s about a 10-minute drive, and taxis are affordable.

You could also walk (which is what we did), and it would take about 30-40 minutes from the Medina. We used Google Maps to help us navigate because there were a few turns along the way.

Address: Rue Yves Saint Laurent, Marrakech

Taxi Tip: Always agree on the price before starting the ride.

If you prefer convenience and a bit of extra context, you can combine your visit with a guided tour of Marrakech highlights.

Exploring Jardin Majorelle

Walking into Jardin Majorelle felt like stepping into a painting. I’m not exaggerating!

The vivid blues and yellows of the buildings popped against the greenery, and every corner seemed like it was designed for a photo. I couldn’t stop taking pictures, it’s just that beautiful. You should see my camera roll haha!

Here are some highlights to look out for

The Cactus Garden: Filled with towering cacti of all shapes and sizes, it’s surreal to see this lush greenery in the middle of Marrakech.

The Water Features: Tranquil ponds and fountains add to the peaceful atmosphere.

The Palm Grove: Wandering through the tall palm trees is such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the Medina.

I spent about an hour and a half here, but you could easily stay longer if you take your time.
