"The reason we decided to fly UIA was because in comparison to other airlines it was by far the cheapest on the day so we though, why not!"

I recently travelled on Ukraine International Airlines on a flight from Kiev to Barcelona. UIA is Ukraine’s flagship airline that was established in 1992 and has a fleet of 32 aircraft.

The reason we decided to fly UIA was because in comparison to other airlines it was by far the cheapest on the day so we though “Why not!”.

Our flight started off a little rocky. It was unfortunately delayed, and we had a lengthy boarding process. I found the aircraft a little older, and the interior didn’t appear very well-maintained.

During the flight, the lavatory didn’t appear to be cleaned regularly upon visiting a couple of times, which was slightly disappointing.

The meal service was also slightly lacking, and multiple items were not available. We did end up ordering a couple of sandwiches that were unfortunately stale. In saying all this, being a low-cost airline with cheaper tickets, they do include 23kg checked baggage with no additional cost.

Overall, although there were a few things I was not happy with, I did feel safe on the airline. If you’re looking for a no-frills airline at a low-cost flight, Ukraine International Airline might be for you.
