Tigerair Australia is affordable!
Tigerair has been operating in Australia since 2007 and is one of Australia’s low-cost carriers. It consistently has competitively cheap flights on offer and has flown over 30 million passengers since operating.
I flew Tigerair Australia on an economy ticket on a recent trip from Melbourne to Gold Coast. Upon arriving at the airport, I found their self-check in, bag drop and customer service seamless. Domestic check-in closes 45 minutes before boarding, so it’s important to be mindful as there won’t be any passenger leniency.
They are strict on carry on luggage
They are very strict on luggage with a max of 7kg allowed on an economy ticket, and there will be ground staff checking and weighing bags while waiting to board. This is something I have consistently seen on multiple flights with them.

The flight had meals and drinks available to purchase, and they only accept cards, no cash. The bathrooms were consistently kept clean. They have no inflight entertainment throughout the flight but this is not uncommon for budget airlines.
The only thing that I felt might be difficult for some passengers was the leg room. I’m not a tall person, but I did find it a bit difficult to stretch out.
Overall, as a low-cost carrier, I definitely feel that Tigerair Australia ticks a lot of positive boxes, such as safety and a great low price. Tiger is is a very good value for money. For this reason, I would absolutely fly them again.
