So, you have arrived at Shanghai Pudong Airport
Now, this airport is huge, so I would highly recommend locating your gate before finding a place to relax.
One of the first things you will most likely do is try and connect to their free Wi-Fi. To do this, you will either need a Chinese mobile number or a Wi-Fi ticket. To get the ticket, you will need to locate a self-ticketing Wi-Fi kiosk, which is located throughout the airport.
The airport has a lot of different eateries, so you should have no problem finding Western and Asian options here. Some of the well-known ones are Starbucks and Burger King. If you do choose to eat at the airport, it is slightly more expensive, but that’s not uncommon for airports. There are also a couple of convenience stores located throughout the airport called Family Mart. They will have snacks and drinks.
These will make your layover more comfortable
Whether you want to be kept busy, just browsing, or keen to pick up some duty-free items, you can expect to find a good selection of designer and popular brands from alcohol, cosmetics, jewellery, and more!
If you don’t already have access to a lounge, there is a good variety of prepaid lounges that economy ticket holders can pay to enter. Most of these will have showers, so you can freshen up before your connecting flight.
Charging stations with USB ports are also located throughout the entire airport as well. There will be no issue locating one near the seating.
Unfortunately, when it comes to sleeping at Shanghai Pudong Airport, it might be more on the uncomfortable side with a lot of the airport seating having metal armrest. But if you can find a quiet spot, earplugs and an eye mast might help. The airport also has an airport hotel in the terminal that can be paid by the hour.
